XTIMS supports all major interfaces to aircraft related bus and data systems such as: ARINC 429/629, MIL-STD 1553/1653, Analog & Digital discrete signals, Derived Parameter. The main objective of this planning sub-process is to manage parameters and calibrations, which may be assigned after approval, to selected tests. The result is a complete master test plan, including section specific test plans and procedural test descriptions.

To have a successful flight test mission the related tasks are incorporated into the flight card. It defines everything required to accomplish selected tests, including: pre-requisite events, test procedures, point duration < status of the aircraft. XTIMS prompts the user to assign pre-defined tests to a mission flight card that contains the individual tests to be conducted. In order to use XTIMS as management tool, it contains a flight test model (FTM) where important and valuable date must be available at all times. This important management feature avoids planning incompatible test requirements, which as a result leads into more flights at a shorter duration at much higher cost. The FTM recognizes these limitations and schedules testing accordingly, prioritizing the testing based on how much schedule reserve is available for each test point.
